Steve checks in to reflect on the wrap of Season 2 and to provide a look ahead at what’s coming in the new year and Season 3. Great interviews about molecular biology lie ahead along with the introduction of Mol Bio Minutes mini-episodes. Tune in to hear what these are all about.
The start of Season 3 is just around the corner, slated to start in January 2025. What’s the new season hold in store you might ask?
Steve assures us he’ll be back hosting Season 3 and teases at topics that are coming. These include biosecurity, bioengineering, polymer degradation, genetics of obesity, CROs and how they utilize mol bio, platelet biology, and epitranscriptomics.
As if that were not enough to get you excited about the new season, Steve also teases on the inclusion of Mol Bio Minutes mini episodes in the upcoming season. These short but oh, so helpful episodes will cover molecular biology lab techniques – sure to be a hit with those working in the lab.

Welcome to Speaking of Mol Bio, a Thermo Fisher Scientific Podcast Series. I'm your host, Steve Lewis.

Today, I want to take time to reflect on our recent close of season two and look ahead toward the upcoming start of season three. First, I want to thank you, our listeners, for making us part of your day and your experience. We appreciate each and every one of you, whether you're a faithful listener from the beginning or joining us for the first time today. I wouldn't get to do this, and we wouldn't get to share the great science that we do without you caring enough to listen. So once again, thank you.

Now I'm excited to let you know that I'll be back as your host again for season three. I'm grateful for the continued opportunity to have this be part of my job. It's amazing to get to meet and speak with so many talented and innovative scientists. Let me give you a sneak peek at what's coming in 2025 and this next season.

For topics, we will continue to explore a broad range of applications that use molecular biology. Topics on deck for this next season include biosecurity, bioengineering for polymer degradation, the genetics of obesity, contract research organizations and the way molecular biology is used to support their various clients, blood platelet biology, epitranscriptomics and more. As we explore these applications, I will continue to strive to do it through casual, approachable and technically sound conversations with our diverse guests. Regardless of the episode topic I'll be driving to uncover the role that molecular biology plays within each application area, and to highlight how mol bio is a foundational part of progressing innovation in the life sciences.

One addition you can look forward to in season three is the introduction of Mol Bio Minutes. These are new mini episodes within our podcast series. So, in addition to monthly releases of our full interviews with our outside guests, we'll be releasing monthly Mol Bio Minutes episodes in between each regular episode. So what are all these about? Mol Bio Minutes are going to be shorter than our regular episodes - only around 10 minutes in length on average. They'll cover molecular biology methods and provide tips, tricks, and resources to those using mol bio methods in the lab. Instead of outside guests, the mini episodes will feature some of the amazing talent from within Thermo Fisher Scientific including R&D scientists, fellow product managers, and more. For example, our first three Mol Bio Minutes episodes will cover topics related to nucleic acid separation and analysis using agarose gel electrophoresis, which is a super common mol bio method - and a fun tongue twister - to share with your friends. These Mol Bio Minutes mini episodes will use a different colored artwork when released, so you'll be able to tell which episodes are our regular full interviews and which are Mol Bio Minutes episodes in your favorite podcast platform. I think you'll really like and appreciate these additions to our series. I ask that you please give them a listen and share them with any colleagues you know doing the type of work discussed.

Now, getting back to our overall look forward to the start of season three. I want to let you know that I've already completed a few of the interviews. I'm really excited about these conversations and about being able to share all of them with you soon. We should begin to publish season three episodes starting in January. Finally, I'd be remiss not to call out that if you're not up to date on season one and season two episodes, this is a great chance to listen to any of those back episodes you may have missed to get caught up before season three starts in January. Also, I encourage you to make sure you're subscribed to our podcast to get this new content pushed to you as soon as it drops.
